President's Welcome
A warm welcome to the players, officials and supporters of South Leicester Rugby Football Club. South Leicester are in a mid table position in Midlands 1 following their narrow home defeat by Kettering RFC last weekend, whilst we enjoyed a suberb victory away at Hinckley RFC 33-15, where despite the end to end nature of the game, we never looked like loosing. Today, we must ensure that we play with the same spirit and endeavour that we have shown in recent weeks to gain another win and continue our push at the top of the table.
Well done to the Broadstreet RFC 2nd XV, who beat Old Leamingtonians RFC 35-10 in the 2nd XV cup in dreadful conditions two weeks ago, then secured a narrow victory in their league match over Leamington RFC last weekend. Well done to the Broadstreet RFC 3rd XV, who enjoyed a resounding 55-3 victory over old rivals Stoke Old Boys 2nd Xv in their league fixture last weekend.
Its hard to believe that once again we have drawn a home tie in the EDF Energy National Trophy, and next Saturday we entertain Westoe RFC from South Shields, who are in second place in Northern Division 1. Westoe beat Loughborough Students quite convincingly 29-3 in the previous round of the cup, so we can expect a tough battle as we look to progress further.
