A warm welcome to the players, officials and supporters of Westoe Rugby Football Club for this
EDF Energy National Trophy third round fixture.
Westoe RFC play their rugby in
North 1, where like us in
Midlands 1, they are placed second in the league, having lost just one match, albeit by the hefty score line of 63-8 to top-of-the-table Hull.
Westoe have clocked up some large scores themselves, having beaten Darlington 80-0 earlier in the season, whilst last week the} maintained their push for promotion with a 28-15 victory over Birkenhead Park. Westoe's path to this round of the
EDF National Trophy has seen them beat our old rivals
Bedford Athletic 47-17 in round one and National League Three North side Loughborough Students 29-3 in round two, so we will need to be at the top of our game to progress to the fourth round, when the
National League One teams will join the draw for the remaining 32 teams in the competition.
Well done to the players, coaches and management team for last Saturday's emphatic
34-9 victory over
South Leicester ... a superb performance and further evidence that we are in peak form as we move towards the mid-point of the season and the festive break.
The 2nd team continue their quest for silverware when they take on
Kenilworth in the 2nd round of Warwickshire 2nd XV cup this Sunday 14th December at our
Rugby Road ground. Please come up and support the lads as we look to progress further in this competition.
My thanks to
Broadstreet U16's for sponsoring today's game. I hope they enjoy the game and the Street's hospitality. My thanks also to club stalwart Alan "Ripvan" Stevens for sponsoring today's match ball.
Please support the match day officials, enjoy the game and enjoy the "Street's" hospitality.
