President's Welcome - Bridgwater

President's Welcome

Today it is my pleasure to welcome the players, officials and supporters of Bridgwater & Albion Rugby Football Club to the Ivor Preece Field for this EDF Energy National Trophy fourth round fixture.  Bridgwater & Albion play their rugby in National League Three South, where they are currently placed nineth out of the fourteen sides in that league.  It is a fantastic achievement for the 'Street' to have progressed to this round of the National Trophy, and just reward for the skill, effort and dedication that the players, coaches and management team have shown this season.  This will be our toughest test yet with Bridgwater & Albion having overcome Haywards Heath 36-25 in round one, Havant 23-15 in round two and our neighbours Rugby Lions 30-28 in their re-scheduled third round match.  The latter game was a thriller, with Bridgwater & Albion trailing 20-28 with just three minutes left onthe clock, before a converted try and a penalty kick turned the game their way.  I am sure that we can look forward to a great game and a wonderful day.

Our three sponsors' rooms are in use this weekend, with Leader CNC in the Ted Sheldon Suite, Frank Brookes (Coventry Ltd) in the Wally Holt Suite and the Past Players in the John Potter Suite.  My sincere thanks to them all for their continuing support of Broadstreet.

My thanks also to Barbara Canterbury for sponsoring today's match ball.

Next weekend we return to Midland Once action when we travel to Peterborough for another tough fixture, as we look to continue to pressure Luctonians at the top of the table.

Please support the match day officials, enjoy the game and enjoy the 'Street's' hospitality.

Don Branston

Club President
