Training starts at the club on the Thursday 2nd of July at 7pm.

All players New and Old from Colts to Crocks are welcome.

With the Credit Crunch hitting hard, it's important that we all help our respective businesses where possible. The club members, players and supporters have a diverse working background that is more often than not untapped. You may need a painter and not realise the person your passing to is a dab hand with a brush! Broadstreet RFC Dinner & Dance

What a Night! What a Season!

The Broadstreet RFC annual Dinner & Dance provided a fitting finale to an excellent season, the night was very well supported by all, with Warwickshire RFU President Richard Wormell the guest of honour. An exceptional amount of silverware was on show following the wealth of success the club achieved throughout the year. The night included a special mention, presentation and fond farewell to Antoine Navereau, Jean Loup Strebelle and Pierre “Jeff” Martinaud who’s French Horn has been a popular feature of the social season, Quentin Doireau will continue the French Connection next season.

Sad News to report the passing away of Maurice Dodd

"It is with great sadness that we have to announce the sudden passing of Maurice Dodd on 11th May 2009. Maurice, was a longstanding member of the club, a former Broadstreet Club Captain and Coventry player. Our condolences and sympathy go to John, Karen, Jamie and Christopher who are active members and players at the club.

May he Rest in Peace."

Broadstreet rounded off a fantastic season with a decisive Coventry & Mid Warwickshire 2^nd XV Cup Final victory over old rivals Barker Butts and kept Zee Germans to a nil in the process. Broadstreet followed in the footsteps of the 1st Team to complete the double at the Butts Arena and lift yet another piece of silverware. It provided a fitting setting for the Street to bid bon voyage to two fantastic players who will be greatly missed both on and off the pitch in back row duo Jean Loup Strebelle and Antoine Navereau, the musical Peirre Martinaud will also return across the channel.

The Street started off with great intent as did the Butts as both sides probed with crash ball after crash ball up the middle, and it was Street who created the first opportunity only for Andrew Skene to fluff his lines on the line. The Street were threatening soon after and Skene made up for his error to put Daz Watts through for the opening try on 20mins, Watts failing to convert. The floodgates opened and Street scored a further 4 tries before the break. Prolific winger Dan Phillips showed great pace and skill to chip through and collect for a fantastic solo effort. With the Dodd brothers Jamie pulling the strings and Chris running riot with power and intent, the next try came with a cute grubber from standoff Steve Hughes for No.8 Jean Loup to collect under the posts, Daz Watts converting. Jamie Dodd added the fourth try with a mazy run from half way, and the match was all but finished when Ashley Lighthowler went one better with a teasing run from well in his own half to score the 5^th try of the half.

Half Time 27 - 0

The second half didn’t offer the same excitement as the first and the Butts offered even less as the competition fizzled out with any consolation the Butts may have hoped for. Dan Phillips went in for his second of the game and with that manager Nigel Bonas rang all the changes to try and freshen things up, with only back row Ethan Griffiths making any real impact with a strong chase, tackle, steal and try with his first touch of the ball. Street ended the game on the attack as they have done for much of the season and look forward to defending their titles next season.

Warwickshire Champions!

Broadstreet retained the Warwickshire Cup for the 6th time in a row yesterday at the Butts Arena as they swept aside a brave Dunlop side making their first appearance in the Final. Street rounded off an excellent season with a comprehensive 55 - 5 victory to complete a wonderful double. A full match report will follow with picture gallery.

The Broadstreet 2nds are next to visit the Butts Arena as they face old rivals Barker "Zee Germans" Butts in the Coventry & Mid Warwickshire 2nd XV Minor Cup Final - kick off 7:30. Please show your support for the lads as they aim to complete a double following the Warwickshire League One title success.

It's time to Celebrate

The annual Dinner & Dance is fast approaching and with the depth of success throughout the club this season it promises to be a fantastic evening. Royal Court Hotel, Keresley on Friday 15^th May, 7pm – tickets are £28.00 each (includes a 3 Course Dinner with Wine & Port), the table plan is up in the clubhouse so simply put your name down or contact Adam Watts, Gary Watts or Tom Faulkner for further details and bookings.

Earlsdon Sevens

The Street have already claimed the annual Coventry Benevolent Sevens title and Saturday the 8th May sees the return of the County's prestigious Earlsdon Sevens Competition, please support the A Team lads and if you fancy a game please contact Loper or Simon Skene as we will aim to put out a B Team for a crack at the title.

Broadstreet RFC under 16's have just returned from a very successful and enjoyable tour! to Great Yarmouth We played two matches whilst on tour winning them both.

Broadstreet Restructure its Youth Rugby

Broadstreet’s Youth Rugby setup has been radically changed for next season and former head coach, Bob Harcourt has been asked to head up this departure from the status quo. The highly qualified and experienced Harcourt who is also coaches with Warwickshire RFU Under 20’s squad will take up the challenge immediately and will start to plan Broadstreet’s new Youth Structure. Encompassed in the scheme is Broadstreet’s Under 16’s, Under 17’s and Colts squads with Harcourt taking an umbrella and hands‐on role over all three squads.
