Rapid progress on the Youth Scene....
UNDER 19 GROUP -
After the collapse of last year’s Colts group, (Under 19) this season’s Youth Rugby Development initiative has ensured that ‘Street start the 2009-2010 season with a full Under 19 squad and programme. Players who departed last season have re-joined a core of colts, which played out the season in the 3rd XV, together with newcomers, to provide new colts coach, Ian Holmes, with a talented group of players to work with.
UNDER 17 GROUP -
Training numbers are well up on previous years, with Junior Colts (Under 17) Coaches, Dennis Howland and Steve Walton applying the personal touch in ensuring attendance.
Pre-Season coaching, under the direction of Youth Rugby Development Co-ordinator(YRDC), Bob Harcourt, has seen a host of Senior and Junior Colts practising together to ensure uniformity of understanding and development.
Bob Harcourt (YRDC) reports:
“I am extremely impressed with the enthusiasm of players of both groups in their approach to coaching sessions. We are blessed with some very talented individuals, but my appreciation goes to each and every one of the 30-40 players, who have trained to date, for displaying maturity in wanting to listen, learn and improve. No coach could ask for more. Dennis and Steve’s influence over the years has undoubtedly had a great part to play in the way these lads are responding”.
UNDER 16 GROUP -
coached by Norman Venson, is currently requiring a boost to its numbers; if you have sons, brothers, relatives or friends who are under 16 by the 1st August, please encourage them to join, in fact, encourage youngsters of all ages to come and join what is fast becoming the best youth coaching set-up in the County.
UNDER 15 GROUP -
Dennis and Steve have also committed themselves to Wednesday evening coaching with the Under 15s. This demonstrates an outstanding level of commitment to Broadstreet. There must be former players who would make excellent coaches and who could, at the same time, repay many years of playing enjoyment, by coaching a squad of youngsters. Contact Bob Harcourt or Dennis Howland if you can find the time and have the dedication to fulfil such a role.
