Street Seconds Turn The Tables In Second Half.
Welcome Win Against Well Organised Syston.
After last year’s difficult opening encounter against Syston RFC, we knew it was always going to be a tough game and the first half certainly proved out this theory. After a bright opening to the match we then tried to play Rugby in the wrong areas of the pitch and, coupled with our high error count, were put under a lot of pressure by a young, organised Syston team. Syston were the better side for most of the period and Broadstreet were content to go into half-time only 15-10 down.
Half-Time: - Broadstreet 2nd's 10 – 15 Syston 2nd's
A change of ends and with a man Yellow carded at the very end of the first half, seemed to change the balance of power. The match became a game of two halves. Down to fourteen, the guys stepped it up, rising to the challenge and even scored a try in that ten minute period. With more possession, better territory and the introduction of fresh legs off the bench, Broadstreet seemed to gel as a team a lot better than in the first half, cutting down also on basic errors. In what appeared to be a role reversal of the initial period the 'Street; ran out deserved winners.
