Broadstreet on Top, Top Top!
History was made at the weekend as Broadstreet RFC achieved a historic triple with league wins for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams.
The 1st team secured the Midlands One League title with victory at South Leicester RFC and with two games in hand. The mighty 'Street have played some exciting rugby and scored try after try with ease this season as they return to the National Leagues.
The 2nd team also secured the inaugural Warwickshire League One Title for 2nd teams as they defeated Old Coventrians in a double header match which also secured passage into the 2nd team Midweek Cup. They will return to retain their crown next season.
The 3rd team not to be outdone by the 1st / 2nd teams also secured the inaugural Warwickshire League Three Title and promotion with another 50 points win this time against second placed Leamington RFC. The Street 3rds have been in destructive form this season and passed the 1000 point mark with another fine display.
Never in the history of our great club have so many tries been scored, and as the season draws to a close, there is still hot competition to become the clubs top try scorer. Even more intense is the quest for 1st team players to notch a first try of the season before having to face the naked run!
Let's hope that our 4 sides involved in the Leagues next season grace our 80th Anniversary season with the same commitment, passion and free flowing rugby as we've seen so far this season.
