What A Season For Jack.
Jack Howland Has A Fantastic Season.
Wyken lad, Jack Howland, who will turn eighteen in July, has had what can only be described as a meteoric rise through the ranks, over the last nine months. Having played for Broadstreet RFC of Coventry from the tender age of six, Jack has progressed through the Mini and Junior set-up at the Street while playing schools rugby for Caludon Castle, always ably supported by enthusiastic mum and dad Angie and Dennis.
Jack Plays For England Colleges.
Moving on to Colts rugby and adding to his week-to-week endeavours with Henley College while studying the BTEC Sports Course, Jack has been chosen in the current 2010-11 campaign for a number of representative sides including Coventry & District Union Under 19s, West Midlands Colleges, Midlands Colleges and England Colleges. Highlights being the game against Portugal on the Iberian Peninsular and the match against always-passionate Wales, with Jack upping the ante with a powerful rendition of the national anthem just prior to kick-off.
Jack Makes Broadstreet's 1st XV.
Jack, within his local home club of Broadstreet RFC, has appeared this season for the Colts (under 19s), the Third and Second XVs and made his 1st XV bow towards the end of the campaign - making six senior appearances, one off the bench and five starts.
Fly Half Jack has in fact played in a number of positions suited to his skills, while proving to be a reliable kicker, contributing 71 points including one try for the 1st XV. Playing for Street's senior side following eleven year's coming through the system would seem to be honour enough for such an eager youngster. But more was to follow.
Jack Makes His Debut For The County's Senior XV.
On Friday Warwickshire County Coach Peter Glackin asked Jack to make himself available for the long trek to Hull RUFC to face Yorkshire in The Bill Beaumont Cup. Jack came off the replacement's bench with ten minutes to go to make his debut playing at Full-Back replacing injured former Broadstreet legend Danny Richards. Within minutes and with nerves of steel Jack fired over a conversion against a strong wind in very blustery conditions with ice cold precision.
A Memorable Season For Jack To Savour.
