Bob 'Big-Time' Burton

It is with regret that we announce the sudden passing of Bob “Bigtime” Burton at the age of 72. Bob died after collapsing whilst out with his rugby friends on 7th December 2010.

Bob, a mischievous and colourful character in local rugby, played his rugby at Broadstreet RFC (Broad St Old Boys mostly in those days) in the 60’s and 70’s and went on to blow the whistle with Warwickshire Society of Referees. He supported his club regularly on Saturday afternoons and was always available to provide an interesting yarn about past exploits.

Our thoughts and condolences go to his family and friends at this time.

Fond memories of Bob "give it me on the burst"Burton. I played in Bob's Broad Street Old Boys thirds, and what a great experience. Bob's idea of a pre-match warm up was a couple of pints. Later he refereed me when I was playing for Standard RFC - and no favours done - even though I gave him a lift to one away fixture. A nice man.
