Coventrians II 7
Broadstreet Classics 29
The Classics started the game with 5 colts in the pack and 2 on the wings against a much heavier and experienced (age only) Coventrians side. The game was played on a tiny pitch but at a frenetic pace, with the Classics moving the ball at every opportunity. Street opened the scoring with a fine debut try by winger Sam Cullinane who beat several defenders to go over in the corner. Street continued to press through a series of Skene breaks and it was Skene who scored the second under the posts after a text book backs move, Chris “the milkman” Price sending the conversion over for a 12 – 0 half time score. There were Classic guest appearances by Nick Thatcher and Mark Challis, and it was Thatcher who extended Streets lead with a try form a break on half way, Milky hitting the conversion. Coventrians then ustilised their heavier pack to go over for a rolling try, which was converted. The Classics hit back as Si Skene jinked his way through to score under the posts for his brace, this time the Milkman failed to deliver. The game was finished when Thatcher broke to put winger Mark Britton over in the corner. The Classics welcomed back former player Nigel Bury on a visit from down under for a guest appearance and lengthy drink. For the second week running he Classics blend of youth and experience delivered some fabulous free flowing rugby and silky tries. The Classics entertain an Old Leams third XV at the Street this week.
