Milestone for Dawesy.  

By starting the game on Saturday against South Leicester RFC, Ben Dawes was playing his 50th consecutive league match for Broadstreet since joining the club in February 2010.  He started nine of the remaining matches of the National League 2 North campaign, all 26 fixtures in last year's National League 3 Midlands season and so far has been involved (with 2 substitute appearances) in the 15 games that we have completed this season.

Almost two years on from joining the club as a 19 year old Coventry University student, Ben has managed to score 14 tries, claim a fair few Man of the Match awards and established himself as one of the better scrummagers in the league.  However, much to the disdain of everyone at Broadstreet, he has also earned more than his fair share of DotD awards for his habit of kicking the ball (very, very poorly) in inappropriate situations.  Furthermore, he runs like a Penguin.

Still being young, especially for a prop, we expect to see Dawesy move up to a higher level in the future, as his selection for the Midland U20s against Ulster Academy might suggest, however he more likely has his sights set on retiring at 22 and playing social rugby with the Beavers (3rd team). However, until that early retirement day, let's hope his long uninterrupted run in the 1st XV continues.
