Harry Steele a Broadstreet Under 9 has been rewarded for his sporting spirit to the game of Rugby Union. Wasps ran a competition for an opportunity to be a wasps mascot and run out with the Wasps players for their fixture yesterday against Newcastle Falcons at the Ricoh Arena.
Harry won this award following recommendation from his Broadstreet rugby club coaches for embodying the 'Spirit of Rugby'. Jordan Simpson, Harry Steele's rugby coach goes on to explain.
There was a chance for a player to win the opportunity to be a mascot and run out with the Wasps players at the game against Newcastle Falcons.
It was sent around to a lot of clubs and age groups as well as publicly advertised. It asked coaches to put a player forward who embodies the ‘Spirit of Rugby’. I explained that a player in our age group put his hand up and played for the opposition when no one else offered in order to stop one of our games being called off. I also mentioned his attitude, behaviour and the enjoyment he gets out of player rugby. I heard the other day that he was chosen as the winner. He and a team mate get a free Land Rover mascot kit and as mentioned, run out with the players. His name is Harry Steele and he chose Alex Dalton to run out with him. They’re both from the U9’s.
Congratulations Harry and hope to see to pictures from your Day running out with Wasps.
