How To Get Online

1. Turn on your wireless-enabled device

2. Select A Freerunner Hotspot from the available wireless networks

3. Open your Internet browser. The Freerunner landing page will now

appear

Troubleshooting - PC

WINDOWS XP

1. Go to Start, Control Panel then Network

Connections. Now click on View

Status next to Wireless Networks Connection.

2. Click on the Wireless Networks tab.

Highlight A Freerunner Hotspot in the

Preferred Networks section. If no wireless

networks are displayed, ensure your

wireless switch is on.

3. Click on the General tab. Highlight the

Internet Protocol TCP/IP option and click

on Properties.

4. Select Obtain an IP address automatically

and Obtain DNS server address

automatically, Then select OK.

WINDOWS VISTA

1. Go to Start, Control Panel, Network

and Internet and then Network and

Sharing Center. Go to Manage Wireless

Networks on the left of the the screen.

2. Make sure A Freerunner Hotspot

is positioned on the top of the list by

moving it up if needed. If no wireless

networks are displayed, ensure your

wireless switch is on. Highlight A Freerunner

Hotspot, rightclick on it and choose

Properties.

3. Go to Manage network connections.

Rightclick on Wireless Network Connection

and click on Properties and then on

Continue. Highlight the Internet Protocol

Version 4 option and click on Properties.

4. Select Obtain an IP address automatically

and Obtain DNS server address

automatically. Then select OK.

Lastly, to configure Microsoft® Internet Explorer, open your web browser and go to

Tools. Select Internet Options and the tab Connections. Under LAN settings open the

window for Local Area Network (LAN) settings. Ensure the following options are NOT

selected:

• Automatically detect settings

• Use automatic configuration script

• Use a proxy server for your LAN

Then select OK. If you have had to change any settings during this configuration process,

please restart your laptop.

Open another browser window. The Freerunner landing page should now appear.

Troubleshooting - MAC

Mac users (based on MAC OSX operating system)

1. Click on AirPort in the toolbar and select Turn AirPort On.

2.  Select A Freerunner Hotspot from the list of available wireless networks,

then select Open Internet Connect...

3. The AirPort status screen will now appear. Open your Internet browser and you should reach the Freerunner landing-page.

WiFi Power Management Settings

If your laptop is not connected to a power supply, your Wi-Fi power management

settings may be too low for the wireless device to be able to connect to a Wi-Fi

signal. To change the settings follow the instructions below -

WINDOWS XP

l. Right click on My Computer and click on Properties, go to the Hardware tab, then click on the Device Manager box.

2.Double click on Network Adaptors and then look for the Network adaptor that says it is a wireless device and double click on it.

3.Click on the Advanced tab. Under 'Property' select Power Management. This dictates the amount of performance the wireless device wireless card has. Set it to the highest setting. Then click OK.

WINDOWS VISTA

1. Open Power Options in Control Panel 2. Choose Change Settings for the current power plan

3. Choose Change Advanced Power Settings 4. Expand Wireless Adapter Settings

5. Expand Power Saving Mode 6. Choose Maximum Performance
